This 18-credit certificate prepares graduates to work as computer helpdesk technicians, interacting with individuals in business, industry, education and government by providing technical solutions to problems related to software applications and relevant hardware. Coursework in this program will prepare students to conduct problem analysis using phone service support, direct client service and a variety of electronic means to achieve high-level customer satisfaction and help an organization accomplish its goals.
Employment
Between the business sector and personal home computing, there continues to be a steady rise in the need for computer technicians who are able to help operators troubleshoot and solve problems. Employment opportunities include on-site computer technicians, service center technicians and private computer service company technicians.

Next Steps
All credits for this certificate can be applied toward the 60-credit Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Emerging Computer Technology. Additional coursework will provide instruction on business communications, customer relations management, security essentials and supervisory leadership, as well as college-level writing and algebra, general psychology and public speaking.
College Readiness
A student may be required to enroll in college readiness courses in reading, writing and math. A student’s scores on the Accuplacer assessment will determine enrollment in college readiness courses. The purpose of college readiness courses is to prepare students for the demands of a college-level curriculum. Credits may vary.
