Funded Professional Development
Each year, MSCF is allocated money to spend on professional development of the membership. When you are ready to participate in a professional development opportunity, please connect with the Professional Development Chair in advance to ensure your funding will be approved.
Forms that you will need when requesting funding for Professional Development are:
- Faculty-Professional-Development-Fund-Request-2022 (Word document)
- Expense-Report-Form-Secured (003) (002)
- Travel Request 1.2.17 (003)*
- If you would like to use a P-Card to book travel expenses in advance, you will need to set up an appointment with Heather Sutherland. See below for more details.
Process for Requesting Professional Development funds for Reimbursement
- Complete the travel request form to show the professional development activity you are completing. You need this even if you are not traveling (ie, online classes, textbooks, etc). Use 701255 for the cost center. Submit the travel request form to your Dean for signature. Deans should return the signed documents back to you the faculty member. No copies should be made or submitted to anyone else at this point.
- Submit your approved travel request, expense report and Professional Development application form along with all receipts of payment to the Professional Development Chair.
- Include with these forms a printout or website explaining what you will be attending.
- Professional Development Chair will give final approval for use of MSCF funds and will submit the entire packet to payroll for reimbursement.
Requesting Professional Development funds with a PO or using a P-Card
- Complete the travel request form to show the professional development activity you are completing. You need this even if you are not traveling (ie, online classes, textbooks, etc). Use 701255 for the cost center. Submit the travel request form to your Dean for signature. Deans should return the signed documents back to you the faculty member. No copies should be made or submitted to anyone else at this point, unless there is travel happening. Then the Dean may make a copy for their record for employee absence.
- Make an appointment with the Professional Development Chair to book your travel arrangements with the approved P-Card, or with the Travel Office at BSU.
- Submit your approved travel request, the Professional Development form and the receipts of charges to the P-Card to the Professional Development Chair.
- Include with these forms a printout or website explaining what you will be attending.
- After travel, you will need to submit an expense form and receipts for any other travel expenses for the trip to the Professional Development Chair.

The Enterprise Talent Development course calendar is filled with courses to help you grow individually or to assist your team in taking the next step to success. There are some free courses and some that cost a minimal amount. Numerous courses are offered each month. Resources include all MMB services and access to benefit information.
