Two of Northwest Technical College’s online nursing degree options have been ranked fifth on the list of “Most Affordable Online Nursing Programs for 2021” by EduMed. Additionally, NTC was one of only two Minnesota colleges listed in the ranking.
The college’s 64-credit, one-year LPN Step-In program is offered primarily online and trains current licensed practical nurses to become registered nurses. Graduates of NTC’s three-semester step-in program are currently employed in acute-care hospitals, state hospitals, long-term care facilities clinics, physicians’ offices, group homes, child care centers and public health agencies.
EduMed also recognized NTC’s generic Associate of Science in nursing degree, which is offered partially online. This 64-credit degree is offered as a two-year program for students with no previous nursing experience and prepares graduates for licensure as a registered nurse.
Both programs are offered in a hybrid/online format and includes standard lecture courses, on-campus labs and in-person clinical rotation experiences. Graduates of either program are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam for RN licensure.
The college’s fifth place ranking by EduMed was based on a mix of affordability, support services and online program availability metrics. Affordability metrics received the heaviest weightings.
Northwest Technical College is a regionally accredited college by the Higher Learning Commission, an independent corporation that accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions, and is approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
