NTC's Fifth Annual Community Health Worker Conference
Dozens of community health workers from northern Minnesota and beyond gathered in Bemidji on May 20 for Northwest Technical College’s fifth annual Rural Community Health Worker Conference.
The conference, intended for employers and potential employers of community health workers, provided community health workers opportunities to network with colleagues and attend information sessions with health professionals.
Presentations covered subjects including suicide prevention, developing a sustainable workforce and working with incarcerated men. Attendees also engaged with mental health professionals during yoga, breathing and psychology-based exercises. Therapy dogs were also available during breaks in the day.
The conference is made possible by support from Sanford Health, Northern Dental Access Center, Minnesota Association of County Health Plans, CHW Solutions, Minnesota Cancer Clinical Trials Network, Minnesota Community Health Workers Alliance, PrimeWest Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota.
