The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion serves as the primary authority of diversity, equity and inclusion at Bemidji State University and Northwest Technical college. We are excited to welcome you to campus! As your Campus Diversity Officer, it is my hope that you find comfort and safety while studying, working or visiting campus. Students, staff, faculty and visitors alike, our mission and vision are rooted in service to people and place, education and equity. Through a unified effort, we take our place in fighting inequity, injustice and hatred. We embrace our work as catalyst for transformative change, and we center those who have been dehumanized, marginalized, minoritized and erased. We believe that the power of education is an essential tool for leading and engaging in much need change. As a user of this space and time, we welcome each of you to find where you can make the greatest impact as a change-agent, and then, do it.

As we plan for the future and live in the now at Bemidji State University and Northwest Technical College, we aspire to lead the way in educating our region in the practice of inclusion, equity-mindedness, and injustice intolerance.

2022-2023 Priorities

Priority 1: Provide opportunities for online and on campus students and employees to develop as culturally responsive individuals.

Priority 2: Promote the value of a demographically diverse and inclusive student body, faculty, and staff.

Priority 3: Create supportive and collaborative institutional structures to address essential student needs such as transportation, food, childcare, housing and belonging.
